The book is divided into two parts, the first part follows the journey of hobbit Frodo Baggins and his companion Samwise Gamgee, as they continue their journey to Mordor, where the One Ring must be destroyed. On their journey, they encounter Gollum, a twisted creature who was once a hobbit and is now obsessed with the One Ring. The second part follows the journey of the other members of the fellowship, including Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, as they pursue the Uruk-hai who have captured their companions Merry and Pippin.
